Setting the bar high ...

ET outdid herself with the fun dance-party 40th-birthday celebration last weekend. Brett and I rose to the occasion by booking a babysitter and attending the party together instead of employing our usual divide-and-conquer solution. 

 

I feel the pressure since that particular milestone for me is not as far off as I'd like. I pledge to try to put together something as personally appropriate and as fun for everyone as she did.

 

In the meantime, Happy birthday, Em!

Happy 16th Anniversary!

We may be something like 7 weeks late in celebrating (due to wonderful vacation plans in August), but tonight is finally the annual Thai-dinner anniversary extravaganza, celebrating the night Steve introduced Emily and me over Thai food and a movie at the Castro theater.

Kyle snapped this picture the other day when we were displaying our similar fashion sensibilities.

An entry for the "darnedest things" category ...

The Bea's vocabulary is truly impressive for a 4-year-old, at least to me. She recently impressed me by using the words "exhausted" and "substitute" correctly.

But, sometimes she comes up with some pretty good words on her own, as well. This morning as we tried to slowly drizzle buttermilk over the dry ingredients in our batch of strawberry scones, she told me that she wasn't impatient, she was "outpatient."

"Come on, Mom. I'm only 4."
